PDPM & PDGM: Reimbursement Reform - How did we get here and what is NEXT?

Why are rehab therapist losing their jobs or getting their salaries cut? Medicare Part A that covers reimbursement in the post-acute care arena is in crisis and has severely impacted the way therapist are compensated. As a result of this crisis, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, in-patient rehabilitation hospitals, and long-term care facilities are in a transitional phase under new healthcare payment delivery models. These individual payment models will eventually embrace ONE unified payment system for ALL post-acute care services, as recommended by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

This is a post-professional continued education course discussing Medicare Part A and post-acute care payment systems.

The intent of this presentation is to review the historical policy changes to Medicare part A, show the impact and relevance it has on post-acute care delivery for rehabilitation, and how it affects therapy practice patterns and delivery of care.
